In conjunction with Juxtaposition Arts (a local youth arts organization), a program is designed to teach kids bicycle building and maintenance skills, as well as paint-a-bike classes where they can customize their own rides. In addition, a neighborhood BMX/skate park is built as a place where they can ride in a safe urban environment.
The BMX/skate park is located within an existing grocery store parking lot that is oversized for the neighborhood demographic. While keeping with city parking requirements, a reduction in stalls allows for an increase in urban park space.
